Major Engine Upgrades and Gameplay Improvements
We're excited to share a significant update to Massive Collapse, bringing major improvements to both the core engine and gameplay systems.
🚀 Major Updates
- Engine upgrade to Unreal Engine 5.5!
- Asynchronous Physics Calculation: The game thread is no longer dependent on physics calculations, improving overall consistency and responsiveness.
- Game Mode Currency Rewards: All game modes now pay out currency for flag scoring, round wins, and other objectives. Currency rewards are now rounded to the nearest $25.
- Hammer Drop Rework:
- Now a respawn-based game mode.
- Generators removed.
- Teams score points by holding the hammer—first team to reach 100 wins.
- Player movement while attacking with the hammer has been refined for better fluidity.
New Audio:
- New sounds for abilities and weapon reloads/shooting.
- More audio polish coming soon!
🛠 Smaller Items
- Teleport + Adrenaline Dash: Movement is now more predictable.
- Bleed Out: Player bleed trail now appears on the floor.
- Projectile Homing: Improved targeting for launched grenades and push effects.
- Spectator Cam: Smoother movement and camera controls.
- Buy Menu: Now hidden in loadout-based game modes.
- Loadout Initialization: Improved player setup flow in these modes.
- Shift Updates: Tweaked timing and visual feedback for better consistency.
- Summon Creatures: No longer appear on the scoreboard.
🐞 Fixes
- Fixed a rare bug that prevented players from jumping after teleporting onto the floor.
- Adjusted visual blood effects when taking high damage.
- Tweaked rocket reload animations post-UE5.5 upgrade.
- Disabled flag pickup and detonation disarm after match end.
- Added a minor cooldown to Teleport to prevent abuse.
